Magic Leap – Part 2

Magic Leap Astronaut looking right

Following the third semester of my Master of Science in Data Science, I was alerted by a former colleague that my skills and knowledge were still desired in the Software Development Kit (SDK) testing team at Magic Leap but this time in the Developer Tools section focusing on automation.

I started my second foray at Magic Leap in May 2019 at the Austin, TX office and am still working in this role at the Sunnyvale, CA office. My primary role here as the Senior SDK Test Engineer in Developer Tools is to design, develop, and implement an automation strategy for a majority coverage of the Developer Tools regression test plan while continuing to perform manual regression and exploratory testing during release cycles. Additionally I mentor and assist more junior SDK Test Engineers on the teams.

Building upon existing tools and frameworks, which I was a part of building previously, I have already made great strides in the development of an automation framework that will have coverage over command line and graphical user interface test plans while being easy to extend by non-software engineers. This framework is primarily written in Python (2.7-3.7) by a small team using Git as the version control system.
