Home Assistant is an open source home automation service and dashboard for IoT device controls and sensor data. Paired with customized ESP32 IoT devices, I am able to control and monitor almost anything in my home remotely.
I'm currently running Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi 4. I have many ESP32 microcontrollers programmed and adapted to do various tasks around my home. For instance, I built, programmed and installed a temporary wireless temperature monitoring device in my chicken coop during a cold snap to monitor their environment. I also added a heater once the temperature dropped too low for comfort.
I have two updates that I'm looking to do to my Home Assistant setup in the future.
1. I want to migrate my Home Assistant install to one of my Proxmox installs (as a virtual machine or container)
2. I want to add a historical database server to my homelab for long term data analysis of sensor data
